GCP Data Engineer with strong SQL & BigQuery experience needed by technology department BI & Process team of Media business that are currently going through a major technology modernisation program.

You’ll be responsible for leading ETL & ELT solutions for the delivery of business intelligence and data warehousing projects, working closely with suppliers who provide external development and operations, as well as with the BI team, internal technical and commercial teams.

Skills & Experience Required 

  • Must be able to demonstrate either a degree in a relevant subject and/or relevant hands-on Data Engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge and experience of building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines in a GCP (Google Cloud Platform) environment
  • Proven experience with SQL databases, both relational and non-relational in a cloud environment. Working with BigQuery in a production environment is essential, with other cloud technologies (within AWS and/or Azure for example) a bonus
  • Advanced SQL is essential as it will be used extensively for this role and for various different use cases. As well as data extraction, data modelling and database manipulation for the data pipeline SQL will be needed to assist in process automation and creation of internal dashboards and tools using e.g. Retool.
  • Experience creating and maintaining pipelines using Dataflow/Apache Beam/Cloud Composer/Airflow
  • Use of Python for the creation and maintenance of data pipelines and for data modelling
  • Extensive experience of extracting data via APIs
  • Experience with dbt desirable
  • Comfortable extracting business requirements and working with stakeholders
  • Knowledge of data ingestion into Looker for Business Intelligence use desirable
  • Prior experience of source control, Continuous Integration, Delivery and Deployment through CI Pipelines
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Site Reliability Engineer – UK Remote or Hybrid

Site Reliability Engineer required to join forward thinking Technology team of Media organisation to work fully remote or hybrid.

Job: To work on delivering some exciting projects, including migrating their core platform to a serverless architecture and enabling cloud automation and orchestration across other application stacks using Terraform and Packer.

Technology: The tech stack is using technologies like C#, .NET, Python, SQL Server, Google Cloud Datastore (NoSQL) and Cloud Functions. Looking to implement solutions based on the best technologies from the major cloud service providers, namely Azure and GCP.

They require:

  • A strong working knowledge of SRE concepts
  • Demonstrate hands-on systems engineering, database administration, software development, or architecture experience based on a variety of common technology stacks (Microsoft, LAMP, MEAN etc).
  • Experience of working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in writing applications or automating operations tasks with one or more languages (eg Python, C#, JavaScript or PowerShell)
  • Experience working with one of the main cloud providers (AWS, Azure or Google)
  • Experience deploying, supporting and operating production cloud infrastructure within a public cloud environment.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog, Azure Analytics, Stackdriver etc
  • Good understanding of Application security – OWASP Top 10, storing credentials etc.
  • Experience managing deployments and infrastructure with Infrastructure as code and configuration management (e.g. Terraform, Cloudformation, Ansible)
  • Experience creating and/or maintaining production software delivery pipelines using common CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, Azure Devops, Gitlab, Cloud Deployment etc)
  • Understanding of network troubleshooting including IP fundamentals, Routing, DNS, load balancing, proxies, WAF, firewalls and DevSecOps practices.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Salary up to £65,000 depending on experience, plus discretionary performance related bonus. Additional allowance paid weekly whilst on on-call.

Graduate Software Developer – Remote or Hybrid

Location: Remote or hybrid (offices in Glasgow or London), must be UK based  

Salary: To £27,000 plus benefits

Graduate Software Developer to work on their core Cloud Based software product written in C#, .NET, MVC, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular and SQL Server. (They are not expecting you to have all of the above languages, they will give training)
